Motivation for this card:
Being a professor and balancing teaching, research, and service is overwhelming, driving the need to provide students with a structured project management system that ensures on-time and high-quality research deliverables. While this structure can help faculty optimize their time and increase productivity, it can cause us to spend less time thinking about whether we are giving students opportunities to practice the high-level research skills that align with the entrepreneurial mindset.
This module provides guidance on how you can modify your project management practices to integrate student-centered activities that encourage entrepreneurial thinking. This can be done by engaging students in creating and revising research plans and structuring weekly meetings in a way that holds yourself and your students accountable for performing literature reviews and making connections to their project, being curious and formulating research questions, and carefully considering the value of their research.
