About the Workshop
Entrepreneurial Mindset in the First Year of Engineering (EMIFY) will guide you through developing EM interventions for your first-year engineering courses and students that embrace your specific context while also gaining skills to adapt any EM intervention to meet the needs of your students. Through participating you will expand your network to support collaboration, continuous innovation, and shared best practices among the community of first-year instructors committed to EM integration. EMIFY will provide you with the tools necessary to not only implement EM but sustain and expand its influence in your first-year engineering program.
- When: June 9 - 12, 2025.
- Where: Westin Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH.
- Who Should Attend: Engineering faculty who teach courses in the first-year such as introduction to engineering, introduction to design, cornerstone design projects, introduction to engineering major/discipline, and similar courses. Participants are expected to have taught or worked with these courses for at least one academic year.
- Cost*: $3,500 per person.
*Registration cost includes workshop attendance, airfare, lodging, select meals, one year of coaching and consulting, and access to a library of workshop materials.
What To Expect From the Workshop
Everything you learn from the facilitation and coaching team and other participants can be immediately applied to your context and topics of interest.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Assess the alignment between their first-year program and the EMIFY Body of Knowledge.
- Identify opportunities for integrating EM into their first-year program.
- Create interventions to integrate EM into their first-year program (e.g., longer-term projects, assignments, short in-class activities).
- Anticipate barriers to implementing EM in their first-year program and devise tools for overcoming such barriers.
- Develop ongoing professional networks to support the continuous improvement and innovation of first-year engineering curricula
- Develop a plan for being an advocate for EMIFY within their sphere of influence
