Practical Application of Project Management Skills
Description
The following is an exercise in order to practice communication and engineering. It grants the opportunity to think quickly, problem solve, and effectively communicate solutions while considering other perspectives.
This project addresses multiple aspects of the civil engineering world including entrepreneurship, public speaking, and technical practice.
The content includes an in-class activity that encompasses group work, presentations, and critical thinking. This activity is prepared for fourth year civil engineering students, but can be done with third year students as well.
The total time that this project takes to complete is approximately an hour and a half; and, it is intended to be completed within one class period.
Materials would include a set of site plans that has a building and traffic flow around the building / in the parking lot. As well as potential offsite traffic / parking concerns. This will make it possible to have all groups involved as detailed below.
