In Fall 2023, the WPI Insights Program put on a series of Engineering Design Thinking workshops for WPI undergraduate students (workshop material and problems described in #4037). Across 3 workshops sessions, 55 students attended in total. Each session included a talk and design activity for students to experience creativity, connections, and creating value– the three Cs (3Cs)– firsthand. A secondary goal was to foster wellness and belonging in the WPI community.
In this document, we describe our evaluation approach of the workshop targeting students’ perspectives on EM and the workshop content in the month's following the events. Both quantitative (survey) and qualitative (interview) methods were developed, with n=10 (18%) of attendees participating. Results suggest that participating students internalized several aspects of the 3Cs following the workshops, and that there are clear opportunities for reframing workshop content to align with student aspirations.
